WOW Death Knight Leveling Guide - How to Level a Death Knight Quickly
64Death Knight Leveling Guide
The Death Knight class is a damage dealer / tank hybrid in World of Warcraft. They start at level 55 and they unlockable if you have level 55+ character on that realm. In this brief Death Knight level guide, I will share with you some of the basics. If you want to achieve the highest rank possible, and are looking to establish a character that is well respected in all of Azeroth, having the information contained in this Death Knight leveling guide can prove to be extremely helpful.
Death Knight Leveling Builds
There is a controversy over which death knight spec or build is the best for leveling. It is fairly easy to argue for either of the three trees since each tree has its bonuses. Death knights possess three talent trees, each capable of unleashing dangerous skills unique to the warrior's preference.
Unholy Death Knights. Talents in this tree focus on spells, summons, diseases, and AOE. One of the highest damage dealing trees and allows for a perma-ghoul pet. Death Knight specializing in unholy field has access to disease infecting spells that drain the victim's health over time and also allow for powerful melee attacks. Unholy Death Knights are also able to support their fellow group members with area of effect spells and powerful minions - making them a viable choice for killing parties.
Unholy leveling spec is really one of your preferred play-style. Do you prefer to chain pull single mobs without having to stop and wait, or would you rather pull groups of mobs with down time between each pull. The speed of leveling is roughly the same between the two, so it is very much a matter of personal style of play or maybe there is a specific ability you lust after in one of the trees.
Frost Death Knights. Talents in this tree focus on dual 1 handed weapons, armor, counters, and combos. Considered to be one of stongest trees for tanking but all trees can be used to tank. The benefits of this rather powerful tree are plentiful. Death Knight is able to specialize in talents aimed at maximum damage mitigation and obliterating attacks. The frost talent tree allows for maximum control and dual-wield boosting effects and often gives the most advantage to a group tank.
Blood Death Knights. Talents in this tree focus on 2 handed weapons, healing, and strikes. A great tree to use initialy for leveling because of healing/damage. Considered one of the best DPS and leveling trees. The blood tree focuses heavily on critical strike damage and health draining abilities. A blood thirsty death knight can boost their raid party's attack power and provide himself with sufficient healing when facing unexpected pvp situations.
Death Knight Leveling Gear
Death knighs are an incredibly gear dependant class so always look for gear like "of the Soldier" or "of the Bandit" pieces, and basically anything else that has stamina, strength, crit rating, attack power, and agility. Most importantly, keep your weapons up to date. Armor plays a big part in how much damage you can rip out, but it is your weapon or weapons that dictate just how much DPS you can do. Whether you're a 2-hander lover or a dual wield player, weapons that are 5-6 levels below you need to be replaced.
You'll get the Death Knight armor set at the end of Ebon Hold, the start area, is great. Item level wise the gear is as good as 20-man raid epics from vanilla WoW, but with stats designed for Outland leveling. By no means these steps are required if you want to level a Death Knight, but they do help speed up the Death Knight leveling process.
It is worth investing in some gear enhancements. You can even get all of your enchants put onto scrolls, then just mail the scrolls to your death knight. It'll be easier than trying to connivence an enchanter in Northrend to come back to Azeroth. Go for the better enchants over the cheaper ones. Outland materials will be dropping in price from now until expansion.
For the most part the crafted gear either wasn't worth the slight upgrade or required level 70, by which point you've been getting nice Northrend quest rewards for two levels. You can easily skip crafted gear altogether, however if you insist on doing everything you can to boost leveling.
Blade of Misfortune is an Outland world drop and can be found on the auction house for 100 WoW gold. If you just can't find Blade of Misfortune for sale before expansion then there is always, which comes from a Hellfire Peninsula quest series. Halaani Claymore/Arkadian Claymore are vendor purchases from Halaa. It is BoP so your death knight will need to buy them when your faction is in control of Halaa.
